Last time we have finished the story about Sd. Shuwaib's people …this time we will continue to tell about what happened to Sd. Musa when he arrived at Midian. What did Allah glory be to him say?[And when he turned his face toward Midian, he said: Perhaps my Lord will guide me in the right road ¤ And when he came unto the water of Midian he found there a whole tribe of men, watering. And he found apart from them two women keeping back. He said: What ails you? The two said: We cannot give to drink till the shepherds return from the water; and our father is a very old man ¤ So he watered for them. Then he turned aside into the shade, and said: My Lord! I am needy of whatever good You sends down for me ¤ Then there came unto him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said: Lo! my father bids you, that he may reward you with a payment for that you did water for us. Then, when he came unto him and told him the story, he said: Fear not! you has escaped from the wrongdoing folk ¤ One of the two women said: O my father! Hire him! For the best that you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy ¤ He said: Lo! I fain would marry you to one of these two daughters of mine on condition that you hire yourself to me for eight pilgrimages. Then if you complete ten it will be of your own accord, for I do not want to make it hard for you. Allah willing, you will find me of the righteous ¤ He said: That is between you and me. Whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there will be no injustice to me, and Allah is Surety over what we say] al-Qasas 28:22-28.Sd. Musa went out from Egypt to Midian without taking provisions or a ride and the distance between them takes more than a week, he had nothing to eat but leaves from trees. When he arrived at Midian, he found a well and a lot of people wanted to water, but there were two women waiting. It was said that the older of them was called "Safura" and the younger one was called "Laya" Sd. Musa asked them, they answered "we are waiting till the people finish". Sd. Musa turned to a well that had a rock at its top that cannot be carried by less than forty men. Sd. Musa moved it away all by himself and watered for them from this well and made their sheep drank until they quenched their thirst. Then he let them to go with their sheep and went to the shade to reset from the trip effort. Then he said "O, my Lord because of what you gave me of the goodness of religion, I became poor in the worldly life, as he was with Pharaoh in kingdom and wealth, but he said that satisfied with this exchange, happy with it, and thanking Allah for that. It was also a prayer that he was asking dearly for the goodness from the Lord saying that he was poor for Him and in need for Him.When the two women returned back to Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] he said to them "Why did you come back early"? They answered "We found a righteous man who was merciful with us, and he watered for us". He said to one of them "Go and invite him for me". Then one of the two women came to Sd. Musa. It was said that she was Safura. She invited him shyly as a guest. She said, [Lo! my father bids you, that he may reward you with a payment for that you did water for us]. He started walking and Sd. Safura walked in front of him to show him the way then a wind blew and moved a part of her clothes so Sd. Musa [PBUH] said "Walk behind me and describe the way for me".When he entered to Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH], there was food set. Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] said "come on young man, eat". Sd. Musa [PBUH] said "I seek refuge in Allah from this" Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] asked him "why"? Sd. Musa said "Because I am from a household whose people never sell their religion even with the capacity of the earth in gold. Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] said "But it is the habit of me and my parents to feed the guests". So Sd. Musa sat down and ate. Actually he hated to eat as he was afraid of that the food was a reward for his work.Although Sd.Musa [PBUH] did not hate that with Sd. al khedr when he said [If you wished, you could have taken a wage for it] al-Kahf :77. The difference is that taking payment for charity is not permitted, but to be hired from the beginning is acceptable.Imam Fakhreddin [AAH] said[From Allah's signs is the hiring of Musaas a dowry to the daughter of the Midiani] 30/26Then Sd. Musa [PBUH] told him his story with Pharaoh saying "I am Musa ibn Emran ibn Yas-har ibn Qahith ibn Lawy ibn Yaqoub" and he mentioned everything about him starting from his birth, his issue with the midwives and suckling mothers, the throwing into the sea, the killing the Coptic and that they are after him to kill him. Sd. Shuwaib said to him [Fear not! you has escaped from the wrongdoing folk]. It means that: Pharaoh had not power on our land as it does not belong to his kingdom. Then one of Sd. Shuwaib's daughters said [O my father! Hire him! For the best that you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy].She described him with strong as she saw how he watered for them and described him with honesty "trustworthy" as he prevented his eyes from looking at them when they were feeding sheep, he was watering for them, and when he walked in front of her while going to her father. Some companions of our Messenger [PPBUH] said in this context "the best people who had physiognomy (insight) were three: The man who said [Make his stay honorable] Yusuf 12:21, the woman who said [O my father! Hire him!], and Sd. Abu Bakr when he appointed Sd. Omar as successor".Then Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] said [He said: Lo! I fain would marry you to one of these two daughters of mine on condition that you hire yourself to me for eight pilgrimages… for I do not want to make it hard for you]. Sd. Musa [PBUH] said [Allah willing, you will find me of the righteous], Sd. Shuwaib [PBUH] said [That is between you and me], It was said that it meant a promise between us.It was said in the book of "Lataef al-Menan": [Then he turned aside into the shade] intending to thank Allah, Almighty, for what he had from Allah's grace, it means: the grace of the sensible shadow, made it only to be used in good things, and to take it for the purpose of giving thanks. This was also mentioned in the book of "Enlightenment".In "Sunan Abi Daoud" from Sd. Aisha [PBUH] that she said "the fresh water was brought to Sd. Mohammed [PPBUH] from the houses of al-Suqia". ibn Kotaiba said " al-Suqia was a well, about two days far from Medina. Also sheikh ibn Mashish used to say to Abuel-Hasan [PBUH] "O Abuel Hassan, cool the water because if one drinks cold water, he will praise Allah with all of his organs, but if he drinks hot water, he will praise Allah lazily".We now wait until we tell you the rest of the story…Edited by Ahmed AbbasTranslated by Hisham
