Translation of the Qasida no 50 (Gasamu-d-dhuha)
Of Sharab Alwasl of Sidi Fakhreddin r.a.a.

قَسَمُ الضُّحَى فِي الآيِ ذِكْرٌ عَالِي   * * *   إِنِّي سَأَحْبوُكُمْ وَلَسْتُ بِقَالِ

The vow by the forenoon in the verses is high remembrance * I will give you much and I am not detesting

إِنِّي سَأَمْنَحُ فِي الْقَرَيبِ غَرَائِباً   * * *   مِنْ طِيبِ نَظْمِي أَوْ فَريدِ مَقَالِي

I will grant soon unusual ones (qasida's) * from my pleasing formulation or my unique speech

وَسَأُغْدِقُ الإِرْفَادَ مِنِّي مِنَّةً   * * *   حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا أَعْذَبَ الأَقْوَالِ

And I will shower with the giving in favour from me * until you bore with the  sweetest speeches

وَسَتَشْرَبُوا مَا شَاءَ رَبِّي عِلْمَنَا   * * *   حَتَّى تَصِيرُوا مَضْرِبَ الأَمْثَالِ

And you will drink as far as my Lord wishes, our knowledge * until you be pointed at as examples

يَا هَؤُلاَءِ الْقَوْمُ فَضْلاَ سَلمِوُا   * * *   فَالسَّتْرُ مَنْسُوجٌ عَلَى مِنْوَالِي

O! These people, gently surrender * as the veil is weaved in my method

يَا سَيِّدِي بِاللَّهِ حَكّمْ بَيْنَهُمْ   * * *   قَوْلِي وَلَقّنْهُمْ شَمَائِلَ آلِي

O! My Lord in the name of Allah rule amongst them my saying * and dictate them the characters of my family

فَمُرَادُ رَبِّي فِي الْقَدِيمِ وَحَادِثٍ   * * *   كَمُرَادِ قَوْمِي صَالُحِ الأَعْمَالِ

That the will of my Lord in the ancient and the fresh * is same as the will of my people, the good deeds

بِعِنَايَتِي يُعْطَى الْمرُيدُ عَطِيَّتى   * * *   لاَ بِالتَّطَيُّر أَوْ بِالاسْتِفْئَالِ

By my care the follower is given my reward * neither  by pessimism nor by optimism

وَالْقَلْبُ عِنْدِي للْعَطَايَا مِزْوَدٌ   * * *   لاَ بِالتَّدَبُّر أَوْ بِالاسْتِقْبَال

And; the heart before me is a haversack for the givings * never by turning back on or coming forth

فَاصْدَعْ بِأَمْرٍ جَاءَ عَنِّي مُخْلَصَا   * * *   وَاعْلَمْ بِأَنِّي مَالِكُ الأَحْوَالِ

Then, declare a matter that originated from me, loyally * and know, surely, that I am the master of the statuses

إِنِّي بِأَمْرِ اللَّهِ حَقّاً صَادِعٌ   * * *   مَا كُنْتُ كَالْخَالِي وَلاَ كَالسَّالِي

Sure, I with the matter of Allah, am declaring * I were neither like a vacant nor a consoler

فَاللَّهُ حَسْبِي لَيْتَهُ مِنْ حَسْبِكُمْ   * * *   وَإِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ شَدُّ رِحَالِي

And; Allah is my sufficiency, may He be your sufficiency * and to the Messenger of Allah be our setting out
